Rep. Tom Rice Visits PolyQuest

House Ways and Means Committee member Tom Rice (R-SC) visited PLASTICS member PolyQuest's Darlington, South Carolina, plant on January 25. PolyQuest is the largest polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin distributor in the U.S. The Darlington, SC facility also manufactures rPET resin pellets made from recycled soda and water bottles, among other PET items. Clean rPET flake is turned into high-grade rPET at the facility, before going on to be used in food packaging in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

PolyQuest Enters into Joint Venture with Straterra Holdings

PolyQuest and Straterra Holdings announced today the formation of Fiber Innovators International, LLC (a joint venture between the respective companies) that has acquired the former DuraFiber Technologies facility in Grover, North Carolina. The facility produces medium and high tenacity industrial polyester filament threads used in a myriad of high quality applications in North America. PolyQuest, the largest virgin PET resin distributor and one of the fastest growing PET recyclers in the United States, is excited about the joint venture with Straterra Holdings. Folly Beach Clean Up

SPI's Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Packaging Materials Committee (FDCPMC) recently hosted its Fall 2016 Food Packaging Summit in Charleston, SC. The event kicked off with an effort to give back to our host city, in keeping with SPI's zero waste mission, by clearing waste from nearby Folly Beach. Twenty-five of our energetic volunteers combed the shore for two hours and removed more than five bags of trash.
