DARLINGTON, SC: PolyQuest, Incorporated, North America’s largest distributor of virgin and recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins, today announced the expansion of its Darlington, South Carolina recycling and distribution facility.
PolyQuest is adding 25 acres of land with an 80,000 square foot building to its current campus as well as additional recycling equipment and rail spurs for a total estimated investment of $8,000,000. The expansion will create approximately 20 new jobs and provide 25,000,000 pounds of additional capacity annually for recycled PET with full production starting in January 2012.
In making the announcement, Brad Dutton, Vice-¡¾president and General Manager, said, “We are pleased to continue our expansion efforts in South Carolina, and more specifically, Darlington. The cooperation and aggressive posture of the State, County and private sources have helped to make this possible. Although many local officials and others have provided assistance, we want to recognize Billy Baldwin, Chairman of the Darlington County Council along with the entire Council and Toy Nettles and William Fleming, both with Pee Dee Electric Cooperative, for their most valuable assistance. The expansion will enable us to successfully meet the rapidly growing demand for recycled PET and to better service our customers.”
The expansion will increase the facility to 300,000 square feet and provide total recycle capacity of 120,000,000 pounds annually. Total company employment will exceed 100 people upon completion of the expansion.
Polyquest is a privately held entity with corporate offices in Wilmington, North Carolina and its flagship recycling and distribution facility located in Darlington, South Carolina.
