Mon February 7, 2018 — House Ways and Means Committee member Tom Rice (R-SC) visited PLASTICS member PolyQuest’s Darlington, South Carolina, plant on January 25. PolyQuest is the largest polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin distributor in the U.S. The Darlington, SC facility also manufactures rPET resin pellets made from recycled soda and water bottles, among other PET items. Clean rPET flake is turned into high-grade rPET at the facility, before going on to be used in food packaging in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
Ryan Nettles, PolyQuest’s director of operations presented Rep. Rice with an overview of the company and its processes. Nettles also provided a tour of the facility with an up-close view of its operations. PET manufacturing is prominent in South Carolina, and Rep. Rice was happy to learn about the impact the plastics industry has on the economy and job creation in his district.
