Polystyrene

Proud Polystyrene Provider

PolyQuest’s long-standing global customer base depends upon all major raw materials to support their businesses, which is why we offer the most comprehensive polystyrene portfolio in the industry, including general purpose polystyrene (GPPS), and high-impact polystyrene (HIPS).

What Is PS?

Known as one of the most widely used plastics in the United States, polystyrene is a synthetic aromatic polymer made from monomer styrene. It can be solid or foamed and is also an inexpensive resin, per unit weight. General purpose polystyrene is known for clarity, stiffness, and excellent processability. For more details, see benefits and characteristics below.

PS Benefits

General purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) are key product offerings to our customers. Whether its low-temperature impact strength or a base substrate for complex barrier packages, HIPS has long provided a balance of unique characteristics that have led it to support a very diverse range of needs. If stiffness and high clarity are needed, then GPPS is your choice. We supply our customers with the most comprehensive portfolio of raw materials to support their businesses.

PS Uses

High-Impact Polystyrene
(HIPS)

High-impact polystyrene is a versatile, low-cost, impact-resistant polymers that are easily processed and provide good dimensional stability. Natural (HIPS) is translucent white and easily colored through the addition of pigments.

HIPS Characteristics

General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS)

General purpose polystyrene is a clear polymer with high stiffness and good dimensional stability. GPPS comes with either a slight blue edge or a water-clear edge tint.
